Assembled and continue to expand a small and multi-talented campaign group of committed individuals representing the local Loughborough Junction residential and business community
Conducted detailed research on Network Rail/rail operating company/central government rules on passenger safety and access standards. Also undertook significant data analysis over passenger numbers and comparable stations within Greater London
Started to collect visual evidence on the hazardous, poor navigability and unattractive public realm in the approaches to the station, and initiated a campaign strategy to motivate Lambeth to radically improve the local environment
Opened dialogues with Lambeth Council officers and cabinet members and
explained our aims
established, where possible, their current policies and plans for LJ station
shared our detailed local and technical knowledge
Established positive and constructive support with local MP, Councillors and candidates
Created a distinct brand image for the campaign, along with campaign / publicity materials
Developed a new website https://www.ljstation.com/ and Instagram presence
Staged events to lobby and leaflet commuters/rail passengers outside LJ station
Closely monitored and filed detailed comments on local planning applications that could impact the future improvements required for LJ station, notably by the Arch Company and new/potential residential developments
Briefed local media, (e.g. Brixton Buzz, Southwark News) on our campaign & published several articles
Informed senior management at King’s College Hospital about the campaign and requested their support
